Predictive intelligence is being used in ecommerce today, not only by product recommendation engines (I’m routinely approached by companies who promise this sort of technology) but by companies like Instart Logic which predicts what pages a user will navigate to next and optimizes delivery of those pages (this article represents the first time I’ve heard of this). Samrah Khan, Instart Logic’s Vice President of Business Development, describes how predictive intelligence can reduce page load times in half by preloading the content website visitors are most likely to request.
Predictive intelligence is based on observation of customer behavior and, with every action taken, the building of a profile of preferences. That information is then used to anticipate customer needs and predict which content to deliver — in real time, across any channel.
