Geoff Phillips of LeaderQuest HQ, writing for Email on Acid, shares tips on how to style your email’s alt text.
Though it might seem like an afterthought to add alt text to images, it can make a huge difference for the success of your campaigns. Alt text is easy to style in many clients, and can help get your message across whether or not image blocking is on.
Some digital marketers may not know that it’s possible to style alt text in email blasts. By adding styles such as font size, line height, background color, font color, and alignment to your email’s image tags, your message will have a better chance of standing out to your email’s recipients even if they have images turned off.
I’ve known about this technique for awhile, but we have yet to implement it. I just added an item to my task/project list to ask our email coordinator to add alt text styling to our email blasts, including the Excel generator we use to create many of our blasts.
